Hounslow Road Safety Forum

The Hounslow Road Safety Forum (HRSF) has been set up to bring together experts from the public and private sectors to tackle the number of road casualties in the borough.

It consists of experts from the council, police, fire and ambulance services, as well as organisations that work with motorists such as the AA and the Institute of Advanced Motorists.

The forum will meet regularly to share knowledge and good practice from around the borough, in an effort to tackle the number of deaths and injuries on the borough’s roads.

The forum will work towards achieving the government’s and Mayor for London’s road casualty reduction targets as well as developing and co-ordinate road safety interventions and provide support to campaigns and initiatives.

As well as regular meetings, the forum will stage public events and road safety enforcement activities which serve to keep the message in the public mind.

Events

The HRSF has organised a community fun day with a serious road safety message in Feltham on Sunday, 15 June.

Among the attractions will be a mountain bike stunt display team and a children’s motorcycle display team to entertain the crowds and show how to safely have fun on two wheels.

People will also be given the chance to see the devastating impact of a road accident as a fire service crew demonstrates how they cut accident victims from a car.

Other attractions at the event range from Feltham Community Boxing Club training demonstrations, to representatives from the Institute of Advanced Motoring who will be sharing tips about safe driving.

The police will be on hand to offer property marking and window etching to protect against theft and the AA will be offering free safety checks.

Admission is 50p, which includes a numbered programme. All the programme numbers will be entered into a draw for prizes at the end of the day.
