Parking ticket charges across all of London are divided into more serious (higher) or less serious (lower) contraventions.
Higher penalties issued for more serious contraventions such as parking at bus stops, on pedestrian crossings, on yellow lines or in the safety zones outside schools. Lower penalties are given for less serious contraventions such as overstaying in a parking meter.
The decision on whether contravention should be classified as more or less serious and attract the higher or lower charge was based on the views expressed through the public consultation carried out by London Councils on behalf of all London councils.
We did not set the charges for each band, this was set by London Councils and then approved by the mayor.
There are two different bands for all London councils with the majority of Hounslow coming under band B.
