Parking bay suspensions
A parking suspension means that a parking space is suspended for the entire duration indicated on the suspension sign, irrespective of the normal controlled hours operating in that location.
Suspensions can only be arranged at locations where parking restrictions take place at specified times (i.e controlled hours operating at that location).
The times and dates for which the suspension applies will be clearly stated on a yellow suspension sign and parking will be enforced accordingly.
If you wish to place a skip on the street, you will need to apply for a skip licence, which also requires a parking suspension or yellow line dispensation.
Parking bay suspension cost:
For the first day: £40 for one bay; any subsequent bays on this day will cost an additional £10
Subsequent days : bays will be charged at £10 per bay, per day
Please note that from 1 July 2011 the costs of parking bay suspensions will rise to:
For the first day: £45 for one bay; any subsequent bays on this day will cost an additional £15
Subsequent days : bays will be charged at £15 per bay, per day
Applications must be received at least 10 working days prior to the first operational date of suspension. Any applications recieved after this date cannot be guaranteed, but will be considered and the applicant informed of the result.

Funeral parking
Arrangements can be made to allow parking for funerals at churches, mosques and temples.
While funeral attendees are allowed to park on a single yellow line for up to two hours. This is reliant on the suitability of each location. It is therefore the responsibility of the place of worship to consult with the parking department first before issuing letters for parking to ensure there are no traffic obstruction issues in the area or zone concerned.
Parking is allowed for up to four vehicles (including funeral vehicles) at the home or residence, of the immediate family. For those attending events such as a wake, free parking is not permitted. Visitor permits can be acquired for this.
A note must be displayed in the vehicle, which must be obtained from the funeral organiser (no more than four vehicles including official funeral vehicles.)
In addition cones can be delivered which allow you to cordon off an area for the funeral vehicles to park. Please note that 48 hours notification is required for cones.
When your request has been considered, you will be contacted and provided with further information.
