Hounslow Council

Suspension of runway alternation

Majority of departures will use southern runway with majority of arrivals using northern runway

Following the incident at Heathrow airport on Thursday 17 January, the council has been informed by BAA that the aircraft has now been removed from the runway.

Repairs are necessary, however, to the southern runway as a result of the incident.

This will mean that runway alternation will be suspended whilst the airport is on westerly operations until the morning of Monday 28 January 2008.

The majority of departures will use the southern runway and consequently the majority of arrivals will use the northern runway.

BAA has apologised to residents for the disturbance to their normal operating pattern while these repairs take place, and have said that they are doing everything they can to restore normal operations as soon as possible.
