Due to public demand all London local authorities have implemented a new two-tiered system, which has been divided up into more serious (higher) or less serious (lower) contraventions.
Higher penalties issued for more serious contraventions such as parking at bus stops, on pedestrian crossings, on yellow lines or in the safety zones outside schools. Lower penalties will be given for less serious contraventions such as overstaying in a parking meter.
The decision on whether contravention should be classified as more or less serious and attract the higher or lower charge was based on the views expressed through the public consultation carried out by London Councils on behalf of the London local authorities.
Please note: The local authority did not set the charges for each band, this was set by London Councils and then approved by the Mayor.
There are three different bands for all London authorities with the majority of Hounslow coming under band B.
Below is a table showing the different charges for both higher and lower contravention for Band B:

Example of evidence
What is acceptable evidence in order to be issued with a lower charge for contravention 12?
Valid residents or visitors permit
A letter from the resident stating the situation visiting as well as proof of residency whether its a copy of a utility bill or confirmation of the permit via photocopy. The letter should accompany the proof of previous legal parking in the first place
Valid pay and display ticket if in a shared use bay
Other contraventions - What is acceptable evidence?
The list below outlines the types of evidence that can be accepted but this is not an extensive list, it is a guideline to what is acceptable evidence. Additional evidence can and will be considered.
With every case, mitigation is considered depending on the evidence that is supplied/accepted and can vary depending on the type of contravention.
Below are examples of the types of evidence that can be accepted as mitigation:
Valid pay and display ticket covering stay
Residents or visitors permit
Proof of loading and unloading for pre-ordered goods by a signed invoice or delivery note
Illness - medical certificate you were too ill on the date of contravention
Receipted proof of vehicle sold, hirer or leased
Copy of disabled badge
