4. Plant 1,000 new trees across the borough
Expect to see your borough becoming even greener in the future months thanks to our promise to plant 1,000 new trees.
The programme of planting began in January 2009 and saw more than 300 new trees lining streets across the borough.
Further new trees are being planted over winter, which is the best time for planting so they are ready to burst into life in spring.
As well as providing natural habitats for birds and a wide range of insects, trees bring many wider benefits.
In Hounslow the thousands of trees we provide:
improve air quality by reducing carbon emissions
reduce the need for street repairs as the shade cast by trees helps to increase the life of road and pavement surfaces
create a more pleasant environment in and around homes and communities
bring a rich variety of colour to the whole borough all year round.
