Hounslow Council

More noise

The council’s research has consistently shown that around 90% of Hounslow’s 215,000+ residents are opposed to any further expansion at Heathrow.

Their most common cause of complaint is noise!

Unwanted noise can have a negative impact on people’s quality of life and general well-being.

It is a serious environmental problem that the government recognises as a public health issue.

Repeated exposure to aircraft noise has also been shown to impair children’s reading and memory development.

The government’s own research (the ANASE study) recently revealed that the number of people affected by aircraft noise is significantly higher than was previously thought.

The report found that more than 2 million are likely to be affected by aircraft noise from Heathrow. This contrasts starkly with a figure of 250,000 to 350,000 people that has been used by the government and the aviation industry to date.

Yet the government claims that its own research is inconclusive and is pressing ahead with expansion plans that could mean more planes, more noise and more misery for more than 2 million people.
