The resettlement team works closely with other agencies to ensure there is a co-ordinated approach to housing and support. We provide short-term support, typically for a period of three to six months.
You may have two periods of support, firstly to settle you into appropriate temporary accommodation and later to move you into settled accommodation. If longer term support is needed, you will be referred to other appropriate agencies for on-going support.
The support provided depends on your needs and does vary from person to person. Support plans can include anything you and the specialist worker feel appropriate to help keep the accommodation and live in the community.
Typical examples of types of support include:
regular welfare visits
help with claiming appropriate benefits, including Local Housing allowance (housing benefit) and council tax benefit
referral to appropriate supported accommodation
help with managing money
help getting paid or voluntary work
help with training
assistance with bidding for properties on Locata
going with you to look at properties
getting help from other agencies
assistance with equipment to help you at home
assistance in having electricity, gas and water accounts set up
help with getting money to buy furniture and equipment
going with you to meetings
help registering you with a GP, schools etc.
