As experienced landlords will know, running a property business is no easy task. Whether you own one property, or a whole portfolio there are a range of pitfalls, legislative requirements and jargon to learn.
Landlord accreditation schemes aim to train potential and existing landlords in the various areas of the property trade as well as promoting good practise across the private rented sector.
Tenants will benefit from the confidence that their chosen landlord has been vetted and trained. Aside from opportunities for training, there are a whole package of incentives to encourage landlords to sign up; most recently including significant reductions to tenancy deposit insurance schemes.
Certain schemes have also set up deals with local advertisers, so that accredited landlords can market themselves as a responsible landlord. For example members of the London Landlord Accreditation Scheme (LLAS) receive a special logo with every advert in the Loot weekly newspaper.
We do not run our own accreditation scheme, but support LLAS in its work by running free training events for accredited landlords at intervals through the year. For more information on accreditation please view the website of LLAS (for London landlords) or ANUK for national advice.
