If you or someone living in your property is disabled you may qualify for a disabled facilities grant towards the cost of providing adaptations and facilities to enable the disabled person to continue to live independently in their home.
You can apply for a grant if you are a disabled person, who is resident of Hounslow, and is either an owner-occupier or a private tenant.
The grant covers facilities such as:
Making it easier to get into and out of the property, for example, widening doors and installing ramps
Stairlift
Bathroom to level access shower room
Adaptation to ground floor facilities
Adaptation to kitchen, bedroom etc
To improve or provide a heating system in your home which is suitable to the needs of the disabled person
To adapt heating or lighting controls to make them easier to use
Once your needs are justified, a technical officer and an occupational therapist will visit you. We will evaluate cost effective scheme and advise you of the grant procedure.
All grant applications will be subject to a test of the resources of the disabled person and their spouse or partners, which assesses how much, if anything they must contribute to the cost of the works. If you are a parent of a disabled child under the age of 19 and in full time education (if applicable) your application is not subject to means test.
The amount of grant is what is needed to meet the cost of the works over and above the applicant's contribution. You will not get any grant if you start work before we approve your application.
