Test of Financial Resources or 'The Means Test'

  • You and your partner will be subjected to a financial mans test. We will need to know all the details about your incomes, captials and savings. If the property is jointly owned with another person, you will need to provide us with all the above mentioned information about that person and their partner.

  • We will use Council Tax and Housing Benefit regulations to calculate the contribution of non-dependent people living with you.

  • The resulting calculation will enable us to advise you of any possible financial contribution you may be expected to make towards the cost of any grant eligible work.

  • Sometimes the calculation results in your contribution being higher than the cost of the eligible works. This would mean that no grant assisstance would be available to you.

  • You will be advised of the result of the calculation at an early stage.

  • Please be as accurate as possible in supplying this information. The formula used when calculating the level of grant is extremely sensitive and any small discrepency will result in significant differences.

  • If you are eventually formally invited to apply for grant assisstance you will be asked to supply documentation to support your application, including proof of income, benefits and savings.

  • If you are invitied to apply and your financial circumstances have changed, your contribution will change accordingly.
