Housing Discretionary Grants

If you own or live in a private sector property in Hounslow, and the property requires repair to bring it up to a reasonable standard, you may be eligible for financial assistance from the Council.

What is the purpose of grants/financial assistance?

Grants and financial assistance can be used:

  • to carry out minor adaptations of properties occupied by disabled persons

  • to carry out repairs of properties occupied by elderly or vulnerable households

  • to improve energy efficiency of properties occupied by elderly or vulnerable households

  • to bring long term empty properties back into use.  

  • improve fire safety and provision of amenities licensable HMOs.

Who is eligible for grants?

Apart from mandatory disabled facilities grant (DFG), all grants and financial assistance are provided on a discretionary basis in accordance with the council’s Discretionary Grants Policy (see web links to the right).
