A shortage in family sized accommodation within the council’s current stock has resulted in many families living in overcrowded conditions.
The families have been waiting many years to be rehoused into suitable sized accommodation. Such living conditions often have detrimental effects on these households.
Whilst we are committed to bringing new affordable family sized homes into the borough, we are also aware that many existing properties are currently under-occupied.
We can support under-occupiers to downsize to a smaller home, releasing larger properties for those in need.
