Care and Repair is a service, which helps homeowners who are 60 years of age or over and are resident in the London Borough of Hounslow, to improve, repair or adapt their homes.
Our aim is to smooth the stress and disruption of carrying out large or small repairs, improvements or adaptations to your home by offering confidential advice, support and expertise.
We can:
Advise you what repairs and improvements are necessary
Obtain quotations for you from reliable builders
Supervise the works until they are completed
Help you to apply for grants or loans to fund the works if necessary
Help you when arranging works covered by insurance claims
We can also help you:
Check your benefit entitlement and help you to apply for any types of benefits for which you might qualify.
Refer you on to energy effiency schemes to make your home warmer and more energy efficient.
Help you get in touch with local services (e.g. Age Concern, Volunteers Bureau, occupational therapists)
We will visit you in your home to discuss the works you are considering. We will inspect your property and report back to you with our suggestions. We will prepare specifications of work relating to the jobs you require and give you an indication as to how much the works might cost.
If the cost worries you, we may be able to help apply for grants or loans. We will obtain quotations from reliable contractors for you. Once the works are in progress we will supervise them until they are completed.
We will also help you to deal with any disruption or problems that arise while the works are in progress. We will carry out a final inspection to ensure satisfactory standards of workmanship.
All advice given, including the initial visit, is free. If you decide to carry out work with our help, a fee based on the cost of the works will be charged. This fee can be included in any grant for which you may be eligible. The amount to be charged will be fully discussed with you before you are committed in any way.
