We are working hard to identify houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) across the borough, to ensure they meet the appropriate standards in terms of fire safety and amenities, and that they are adequately managed.
We are currently conducting a search of internal records such as council tax, housing benefit and electoral register, as well as door to door surveys, to find properties where multiple un-related people live together.
Whilst this is revealing a number of HMOs we were previously unaware of, we need the support of local residents and businesses if we are to obtain a true picture on the actual number and location of HMOs in the borough.
