Hounslow’s foster carers come from a variety of backgrounds. It makes no difference if you’re working or unemployed, married or single. What is important is that you have the time, space and commitment to care for and support the child you are looking after.
Foster carers do not need to own their own home. They can be living in privately rented or council accommodation.
A foster child may not necessarily need to have a room of their own but older children ideally should have their own room.We always try to match children with carers who share the same ethnicity, culture and religion as the children they care for. Most of all, foster carers need to understand children and their needs, and have experience of caring for their own or other people’s children. They need to have patience and be willing to make a commitment to provide a stable and caring environment for a child.
