The Social Work Team for Children with a Disability is a small team, which includes social workers, family support workers and a part time Challenging Behaviour Team. It also includes the Disability Network Coordinator, Transistions social worker and the Aiming High project team.
The team works with children and young people aged 0 - 18 with a physical or learning disability and also includes their families. Children of school age may be in special schools or mainstream education.
The team can offer advice on accessing welfare benefits, day care, short break care, self-help groups, counselling on difficulties in the family and can refer children and young people for specialist support.
