Do you have children? Are you using or considering using childcare?
Are you confused about what benefits and financial help your family can access?
Many families struggle with the expense of childcare and don't claim any financial help because they think they are not eligible.
If you have children and the cost of childcare is a worry, take some time to check you are claiming everything you are entitled to. The Family Information Service has produced the “Quids for Kids (
PDF Help, size 545kb)” booklet which lists a range of financial support available when using childcare.
The booklet includes information on the following:
Child tax credit
Child benefit
Working tax credit (childcare element)
Childcare vouchers
Early Education Entitlement (
PDF Help, size 1310kb) (up to 15 hours per week of free early learning for 3 and 4 year olds)Benefits and allowances if you or your children are disabled
Financial support for students with one or more children
If you are not using childcare but are expecting a baby or do have children, there are a range of benefits that you may be entitled to, dependant on your individual circumstances. Please refer to the ‘expecting a baby or have children’ page under related pages.
