Out of hours support

The Emergency Duty Service provides a social work service to the London Borough of Hounslow outside of normal office hours, at night, weekends and bank holidays.

We are available to help with situations which reach a crisis outside of the normal office hours.

If you have an out-of-hours emergency - please call the out of hours duty team on 020 8583 2222.

Who will I speak to?

Calls go through to an operator service which manages a number of council services between the following hours:

  • Monday - Thursday from 5pm to 8.45am

  • Friday - 4.45pm through to Monday 8.45am

  • Any days when the council offices are closed (including Christmas closure).

What will happen next?

The operator will take your contact details and information about your emergency. They will pass this information on to a social worker from the Emergency Duty Team who will call you directly.

If the operator is busy with another call, you can either wait in a call queuing system or leave a recorded message.

This is how the process works:

Step 1 - Call our out of hours operator on 020 8583 2222  - if there is a crisis when our offices are closed.

Step 2 - Press Option 3 to get through to the out of hours operator.

You may be placed in a queue if the operator is busy, you will be told how many people are ahead of you in the queue and will have the option to leave a message.

Step 3 - When speaking to the operator try to explain the problem in as much detail as possible and include your telephone number.

Step 4 - The operator will give this information to the Emergency Duty Social Work Team

Step 5 - A social worker will call you back, assess the situation and decide what further action is needed.
