We all face risks on a daily basis and unfortunately, accidents and criminal acts are a part of life.
The majority of people are quite good at keeping themselves safe and keeping risks to a minimum but vulnerable adults (people who rely on other people because of their age, disability, illness or frailty to assist them in their day to day living) can find this much harder and can end up relying on the people looking after them to protect them.
Abuse »
Sometimes the people that are supposed to be looking after us can abuse this position of trust. Vulnerable adults are particularly at risk from this with abuse taking place in their own home, in residential or nursing care, in day care or in hospital. The person abusing them is often someone they know such as a relative, friend or neighbour or a paid carer.
If you suspect that someone is being abused or neglected (regardless of whether they are vulnerable or not), please let us and/or the police know immediately.
