If you care for someone experiencing mental health difficulties , you may be interested in attending our carers education training programme.
The training is co-led by carers and developed in consultation with carers, psychiatrists and Rethink. It aims to provide carers with information about mental illness including topics like:
causes
treatments
medications
side effects
early warning signs
what to do in a crisis
It also gives carers the opportunity to work together in a relaxed, social and fun atmosphere, sharing expertise and experiences with each other.
The programs objectives are:
to provide information about cause, treatment how to manage the illness and recovery
to help identify problems whilst trying to manage the illness
to develop strategies to deal with problems
to help relatives and carers to communicate in a positive, uncritical way
to help both carers and the cared for person become more self-reliant and independent to find ways to develop emotional and social support outside the immediate family
