Hounslow Council

Request a new street tree

We want you to be proud of the area you live in and to recognise the value of trees.

We welcome your suggestions of possible locations for new tree planting.

We try to fulfil all requests made by residents and all sites will be inspected by our arboricultural team to see if they are suitable for planting.

Unfortunately it is not always possible to plant in the suggested locations for many reasons including:

  • Footpaths may be too narrow to accommodate new trees – it is recommended to leave a minimum of 1.2 metres of footpath to accommodate pedestrians (this increases to 1.5 metres where there is a higher pedestrian footfall) and we follow this as far as possible

  • Presence of underground utility cables

  • History of new trees being vandalised in the vicinity

We would like to plant trees in streets that are currently lacking in trees to 'green' the borough. The locations and species of tree will be carefully considered to avoid and minimise future issues that may arise.

The newly planted tree will have a three year maintenance programme including watering, light pruning, tie adjustment, weeding and mulch top up.  It will then be included into the street tree maintenance programme. We would like to encourage our residents to assist us with the trees' safety and establishment by assisting with watering and reporting vandalised trees.

Your support is important to the success of this scheme, if you have any questions please contact us.
