Legal disposal of waste

Waste can only be deposited at officially authorised sites.

Waste includes:

  • General domestic waste

  • Large items such as fridges and mattresses

  • Commercial waste such as builder's rubble and tyres

  • Garden refuse

  • Clinical waste

Only holders of a waste management licence can recover, transport, deposit or dispose of waste. Your household waste is exempt so long as it is within your own premises or garden.

You must not store waste – it must be removed responsibly.

Where to dispose of waste

Put your domestic waste in a refuse bag for weekly collection, on the appointed day, by Hounslow Council.

Dispose of garden waste by purchasing biodegradable sacks for weekly collection by the Green Garden Waste Collection Service. For further details of this service contact 020 8583 5555 or visit the green garden waste page.

Take your extra household waste to Space Waye Re-use & Recycling Centre. If disposing of domestic waste by van, you will need to show council tax documentary proof of residence or you will be charged a fee for disposal.

If you need to dispose of extra or bulky waste use our bulky household waste service on 020 8583 5555 or use a licensed waste carrier.

If you need to dispose of business or trade waste you are required by law to:

  • secure the waste

  • remove the waste to an authorised site or

  • ensure that the person/company that removes your waste is authorised
