All schools in the borough can make use of green boxes or wheelie bins to recycle their paper and cans.
They will receive a weekly collection service for all materials. We can also offer a collection service for cardboard, although schools will have to provide their own 1100 litre bin for this collection. We can provide details of where to purchase these on request.
Primary schools can also have a collection for shoes and clothes through our contractor LM Barry. This is through their Shoe Friends and Clothes Collectors scheme. Schools will be provided with bins for these materials and will be paid for each bag of shoes or clothes that they collect. This money can then be used to support any environmental activities within your school. Please contact us for an application form.
At present we do not have a dedicated officer to work with schools in the borough so we are not able to offer as wide a selection of lessons and assemblies to schools as has been the case in the past. However, if you are interested in an assembly, particularly if you have not worked with us in the past, please get in touch and we will see what we can do.
If you are working on recycling as a topic we have a recycling treasure chest available for schools to borrow.
This resource is suitable for key stages one and two and contains books and resources relating to recycling as well as examples of recycled items. It is available on a first come, first served basis and can be borrowed for the period of one half term. We would appreciate feedback on how it was used when it is returned. Schools are responsible for the treasure chest while it is in their care and we would expect any damaged or lost items to be replaced at the school’s cost.
