Compost is a rich, dark soil-like material you can produce by mixing together natural products such as unwanted garden materials and organic kitchen waste. It acts as a natural fertiliser and is full of nutrients to use on your garden.
Home composting is also an ideal way to help get rid of your organic waste naturally, away from landfill sites, and help you contribute positively towards the environment.
We have now ended our home composting scheme.
From October 2009 until spring 2010, we will not be providing free home composters.
We have decided to review our scheme as the uptake of home composters is very low.
The composting scheme will be starting next year in spring 2010.
Reduced priced wormeries
Discounted wormeries are now available from all Hounslow residents through West Country Worms.
Wormeries are the perfect environmental solution to composting cooked and uncooked kitchen waste.
A wormery is your own worm farm in a bin, the worms live and breed happily amongst the food waste converting it into rich dark compost and a liquid plant feed as well.
For more information and to order your wormery please visit the West Country Worms website, see right of this page under external links.
