Hounslow Council

Planning obligations and air quality SPDs

We adopted these SPDs on 11 March 2008 following public consultation in July and August 2007. The documents form part of our Local Development Framework.

The Planning Obligations SPD provides guidance on our approach to negotiating planning obligations arising from development. It includes clarification on the procedures for the use of planning obligations; the broad range of likely obligations; the types of development that would be subject to planning obligations; the potential schemes to be funded through planning obligations; and the calculation of financial contributions.

The Air Quality SPD provides technical advice on how we will consider planning applications that could have an impact on air quality, the circumstances when an air quality assessment will be required to accompany a development proposal, and on the process of air quality assessment.

A range of consultation methods were used to seek the views of residents, housing associations, housebuilders, consultants and other relevant groups and public bodies. The responses received, and the changes made as a result of these are set out in the Schedule of Consultation responses to draft Planning Obligations and Air Quality SPDs
