Young apprenticeships

''The chance to combine school studies with learning alongside skilled workers"

The Young Apprenticeship (YA) programme provides a fantastic opportunity for motivated pupils to pursue a career which interests them whilst they continue to study for GCSEs. The programme is designed for pupils capable of achieving five GCSE grades
A* to C.

The YA programme is a great chance for you to:

  • experience a more hands-onl style of learning outside of school

  • get a 'head start' in the world of work

  • broaden your career opportunities

  • learn through a mixture of classroom, practical training and work experience opportunities with local employers

YA programmes are suitable for young people who have the following skills and qualities:

Attendance and punctuality - an excellent attendance and punctuality record is expected

Academic ability - average to good i.e. NC teacher assessment at level 5 in maths, English and science, (minimum of 14 total points score)

Social skills - positive, pleasant attitude and friendly disposition with a willingness to learn

Contribution to the school and local community - passionate about the YA subject and an interest in a possible future career in the industry

Young apprenticeships are available in 6 different work areas in Hounslow:

  • Construction

  • Hairdressing

  • Health and social care

  • Hospitality

  • Motor vehicle industry

  • Sports management, leadership and coaching
