The Looked After Children’s Education Team is a service which aims to promote the educational attainment of children who are in the care of the London Borough of Hounslow.
The team are based within the Lifelong Learning department, but work closely with colleagues in the Social Services Department who have responsibility for young people’s social care, health and well being.
The Service is jointly funded and is managed by the Head of Inclusion (Lifelong Learning) and the Service Manager, Policy and Organisational Development (Social Services).
The LAC Education Team work across borough boundaries and are responsible for ensuring that Hounslow’s Looked After Children have a school place, wherever they are resident, and for monitoring their attendance and educational progress.
They also provide advice and support to Foster Carers and Residential Social Workers on how best to support and assist Looked After Children’s educational development.
