We have four special schools which cater for children with:
emotional and behavioural difficulties (Cedars Primary)
moderate learning difficulties and autism (Marjory Kinnon)
severe learning difficulties (Linden Bennett Primary and Oaklands Secondary)
We also have centres for pupils with partiuclar special needs attached to mainstream schools.
In addition, we operate a pupil referral service:
Woodbridge Park Education Service
Pupil referral services are legally a type of local authority maintained school that provides education for children of compulsory school age who may otherwise not receive suitable education. The aim of such units is to provide suitable alternative education on a temporary basis for pupils who may not be able to attend a mainstream school. The focus of the units should be to get pupils back into mainstream school.
Woodbridge Park Education Service works with students who have been referred via these main routes:
permanent exclusion
a special tuition request
a managed move from a mainstream school
special educational needs panel
The service consists of cross phase provision at all key stages.
Woodbridge Park manages tutors and monitors the educational provision for pregnant school girls and young mothers. The service also provides interim tuition support for KS4 looked after children returning into local authority care and for students under the Youth Offending Team.
Some students may not be preparing for integration in a mainstream svhool but may be preparing for admission to a special school or other provision.
