Our aim is to ensure that pupils in Hounslow schools receive a good quality meal and we in turn receive best value from the provider.
The section fulfils the duties as detailed in 512A of the Education Act 2002 which are:
the duty to provide paid lunches on request;
the duty to provide free lunches to qualifying pupils whose parents are in receipt of Income Support; an income based jobseeker's allowance; Child Tax Credit provided they are not receiving Working Tax Credit; a guaranteed element of State Pension Credit; support provided under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
the duty to provide free milk to qualifying pupils.
Beyond the above requirements, the section meets:
LEA requirements with regard to the payment of invoices and contributory financial transactions;
statutory specification and maintenance standards of kitchen equipment under the relevant Acts;
the statutory requirements of a contracted meal service and monitors the performance of the provider to ensure it complies with the terms of the specification;
social services requirements for the provision of meals to asylum seekers.
