Primary
To apply for a place at a Hounslow infant, junior or primary school after 3 September 2007, for a child who is between 3 and 11 years old, please contact the school/s directly. If your child was born between 1 September 2003 and 31 August 2004 your application will be for ‘Primary School Admission 2008’ and dealt with under this process.
Secondary
To apply for a place at a Hounslow secondary school after 3 September 2007, for a child who is already of secondary school age, between 11 and 16 years old, please contact the School Admissions Team on the numbers below.
You will be required to complete and return a form and we will then check our records to see if there is a vacancy at your first preference school, and if not, whether there is a vacancy at your second preference school.
If the Authority can offer you a place at one of these schools, we will send you an admission letter for the school. You should then phone the school to arrange an appointment to go with your child to meet the Headteacher.
If there is more than one application for a vacancy, the applications will be placed in priority order according to the Authority’s published admission criteria for secondary school admission.
If the Authority cannot offer you a place at either of your preferred schools when we receive your completed application form, we will inform you of this. If you then wish to appeal for a place at your preferred school, please contact our office for an Appeal Registration Form.
Transfer from another Hounslow school normally takes place only at the beginning of the next term or half term. If the school receiving an application has a vacancy, the Headteacher will liaise with staff of the original school, and will normally advise the applicant to discuss the application with them.
Parents wishing to change their child’s school in other circumstances should consider this very carefully and should discuss the matter with their child’s current Headteacher. Moving to a new school is a disturbing event for any child and, while it is recognised that there are exceptional circumstances, it is expected that such changes would occur only rarely.
If your child has a Statement of Special Educational Needs it will be necessary for the Authority to consider whether the preferred school can provide for his or her needs. Please contact the Special Needs Dept. on 020 8583 2673, do not complete an admission form.
