Hounslow Council

Extended schools

Extended schools aims to provide a range of services and activities, often beyond the school day, to help meet the needs of children, their families, and the wider community.

These will include:

High quality childcare from 8am-6pm for all primary aged children – provided on the school site or through other local providers.

A varied selection of activities for children and young people outside of school hours, including study support – such as homework clubs, sports, music tuition, arts and crafts, visits, business and enterprise activities.

A range of parenting support to meet local parents needs – including family learning opportunities, parent information sessions and a range of parenting support classes and workshops.

Swift and easy access to a wide range of specialist support services.

Community access to facilities at school sites and in the local community, including access to ICT, sports and arts facilities, and a range of adult learning.

In order to achieve this goal, Hounslow schools, along with a range of service providers, have grouped together into six local geographical cluster areas, to develop and deliver these services. We aim to offer all these services in each local area by 2010.

  • Brentford and Chiswick

  • Feltham and Bedfont

  • Feltham and Hanworth

  • Heston and Cranford

  • Hounslow

  • Isleworth

The range of provision on offer within each cluster area will be shaped through regular consultation with local people and will vary from one cluster area to another depending on local need.
