We work in partnership with schools, parents and other agencies to improve attendance rates and enable children to fully engage in education provision.
We enforce a parent's duty to ensure children they are responsible for receive appropriate education.
The safety and protection of children is paramount and in addition to making sure school-age children are safe in school each day we work to protect children by ensuring child employment and child performance regulations are adhered to.
Education welfare officers are able to support children and families where pupils are experiencing difficulties in school and welfare issues are disrupting a child’s education.
We work alongside many other organisations to prevent children from becoming victims or perpetrators of crime and anti-social behaviour.
We are also responsible for the issuing and monitoring of child work permits, entertainment licenses and chaperone licenses.
