Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is the biggest-ever school change programme.
The aim is to rebuild or renew nearly every secondary school in England, whilst introducing new ways of teaching and learning, supported by exciting new technology. Hounslow is now a part of that programme and the first schools to be developed will be:
Hounslow Manor School
Oaklands School
Feltham Community College
Longford Community School
Chiswick Community School
Hounslow is on a journey to create a 21st century education system with learning environments at the heart of local communities. This journey is now gaining momentum and government funding should be approved in April 2010.
It is our vision to transform Hounslow's education system and create a service which better meets the needs of children, young people and their families, and contribute to the wider delivery of children's and neighbourhood services.
Our vision for learning and teaching will be achieved by providing buildings equipped with the latest technology and where teaching and learning will be transformed for students and teachers. Students will benefit from being able to stay at school longer and create a new sense of purpose which will be an advantage for the whole community.
In addition to the BSF programme, Hounslow's primary and special schools will also receive significant investment. Therefore, within the next ten years our schools will have been supported through the change of buildings and surroundings, as well as significant introduction of new technology and new ways of learning.
BSF will change our secondary sector and by working closely with our primary schools the lives of all children and young people in Hounslow will be significantly improved.
