Nursery admissions

All Hounslow infant and primary schools have nursery classes. Children can take up a free, part-time place in these nurseries in the September after their third birthday, but cannot be admitted before the school year in which they reach the age of four.

Children born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011 can be admitted to a nursery class in September 2014.

Children born between 1 September 2011 and 31 August 2012 can be admitted to a nursery class in September 2015.

An application form and brochure will be available from 1 January 2015 from this page.

Applying for nursery

Nursery admissions are managed by individual schools. Parents applying for a place at a nursery attached to a Hounslow school should complete a nursery application form and return the completed form to the relevant nursery. The application form is available to download from this page or a paper copy can be collected directly from nursery schools.

Please note that some schools require applicants to complete additional forms, so it is advisable to contact each school to ensure you have completed all the required forms.

We advise all parents to read our Starting Nursery School in Hounslow brochure before making an application.  The brochure is available to download from this page and gives you full information on:

  • how to apply for a place at a nursery

  • criteria for admission to Hounslow nurseries

  • full address and contact details for nurseries in Hounslow

  • details on Early Education Entitlement

Paper copies of the brochure are also available directly from Hounslow schools from 29 January 2015.

Please be aware that education in a school nursery is not compulsory and it may not be possible for every parent to secure a place in a school nursery for their child. Therefore, parents whose child already has a place at private day nursery or playgroup may prefer to keep their child in the provision where they are settled, until the child starts reception in the following September.

The government also provides funding for Early Education Entitlement. A guide for parents is available for download from this page.
