Access to higher education

Access to Higher Education (Combined Studies)

This is a one-year intensive course for mature learners (19+) who wish to apply for entry into higher education at degree or equivalent levels. The course offers you the opportunity to study a variety of subjects such as humanities, social sciences and psychology.

Based at our Meadowbank centre in Cranford, the course runs 4 days each week and equips you with the skills needed for higher levels of study. The course requires a minimum commitment of 16 hours per week over 3 or 4 days, depending on the options chosen. The course runs from September to July.

The course will help you develop your English, maths and ICT. You will undertake compulsory core modules, tutorial and option modules according to your interests and intended progression to HE. Previous students have gone to local universities to study media, social sciences, social work and teaching.

There are no formal entry requirements, but all applicants are required to attend an informal interview with a member of the course team and complete a written assessment.
