Our disability equality scheme explains what we will do to ensure that disabled people have the same chances as everyone else.
The scheme has a three year action plan (1 April 2007 - 31 March 2010).
Main aims of the scheme
To show how we involved disabled people in putting together our disability equality scheme
To help us think about what is important to disabled people
To set out the key steps we will take to promote disability equality
There are five strategic objectives in the three year action plan:
Promoting community leadership and community cohesion
Improving communications and promoting consultation and involvement
Promoting equality in service delivery
Promoting equality of opportunity in employment and training
Evaluating the success of our equalities commitment
