Elections - postal votes

You do not need a reason to vote by post in an election.

Your ballot paper will be sent to you before polling day.

You can apply for a permanent postal vote or a temporary vote for a particular election.

Ballot papers can be sent out of the country, but these are only sent out approximately one week before an election; you may therefore prefer to appoint someone to vote for you.

Postal votes must be returned by the close of polling on election day to be included in the count.

Postal votes can also be handed in at polling stations.
