A 14-week consultation ran from November 2011 to February 2012 on Thames Water’s revised plans for the proposed Thames Tunnel, which is needed to help tackle the 39 million tonnes of untreated sewage that overflows annually into the River Thames from London’s Victorian sewerage network.
The main change for Hounslow (from the scheme as proposed in the first round of consultation) is that the tunnel that will pass underneath the borough between Acton Storm Tanks and the riverside in Hammersmith, now to be part of the main tunnel, and not a connection tunnel linking into the main tunnel at the riverside in Hammersmith.
A series of public exhibitions gave all interested parties an opportunity to discuss the details of the proposals for the full route with the Thames Tunnel project team.
Full details of the plan can be viewed by visiting the Thames Tunnel website, available on this page under external links. Anyone can register on the website to comment and receive updates and information regarding public exhibitions.
