Hounslow Council

Hounslow Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy

This consultation is now closed - thank you for your feedback.

Being as healthy and well as we can be helps us to do the things we want to do and means that we can play an active role in our families, our communities and our city.

Our desire in Hounslow is to improve the health and wellbeing of all Hounslow residents. We also aim to reduce the health inequalities that exist across our area. This commitment is already central to the work that we do in partnership with other organisations.

We know that health and wellbeing can be affected by poverty, education, employment and the physical environment as well as individual genetics. Wellbeing is not just about being free from illness. It’s about feeling physically and mentally well and being able to be part of our local community.

The Hounslow Health and Wellbeing Board is agreeing a new Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JHWS) for Hounslow. It sets out our vision for how we want to help improve the health and wellbeing of local people and reducing inequalities at every stage of people’s lives over the next five years.

In October 2012, we wanted to involve a wide range of people to:

  • increase awareness of the purpose and content of the strategy and

  • give people the opportunity to comment on the draft

This will help achieve wide ownership and shared commitment from local organizations and local residents to help us all improve the wellbeing of people in Hounslow. The feedback will shape the final strategy, which will be agreed in November 2012.

During this consultation we were keen to hear the views of a wide range of people including:

  • People who live or work in Hounslow

  • People and organisations providing services that contribute to the JHWS vision and outcomes

  • People responsible for commissioning and planning services to achieve the JHWS vision and outcomes

  • People who represent local people and communities

There were a range of activities planned including meetings of established bodies/group and special one-off events for specific groups.
