Wants and needs for play in Hounslow
Hounslow is producing a play strategy for the development of play opportunities across the borough. With the aim of having every child in the borough within walking distance of a quality play opportunity.
Part of developing this strategy is finding out what people would like to see in their locality.
Play is defined as what children and young people do when they follow their own ideas in their own way and for their own reasons.
Play opportunities are defined as play areas such as fixed equipment or ball courts, open spaces such as parks and places in the shared public realm where children and young people may play.
In thinking about play it is important to think about both areas designed for children to play (playgrounds etc.) and places where children play regardless of any specific equipment.
As part of the development of the play strategy there will be opportunities to put forward proposals to the Big Lottery for funding. There is only limited funding available for this and this will be subject to areas/projects being identified as a priority through the strategy.
Priority projects not eligible for funding through the Big Lottery will be included in the strategy and supported to identify future funding opportunities. We would like groups to use this questionnaire to identify places that could be developed to supply play opportunities or put forward ideas for projects. Closing date 27th November 2006.
