Unfortunately this item had to be withdrawn from the agenda of the Borough Council meeting on 19 July 2011 as the Councillors did not receive the full Equality Impact Assessments in enough time to fully consider their content.
It is essential that all members should have the opportunity to consider all of the relevant documentation prior to making a decision in respect of the proposals.
The Adult Social Care Consultation Outcome Report will be presented to the Borough Council at a future meeting and we will inform you of the date once it has been confirmed.
We are required to make a saving of £18 million over the next financial year (1 April 2011 - 31 March 2012).
We have identified a number of proposals to help make this possible by working hard to maximise efficiencies in order to reduce the impact on front-line services. However it is inevitable that some services will need to be changed, reduced or stopped.
We are considering changes to the services delivered at the Leaders Employment Resource and in March 2011 we consulted with you on the savings options which could affect those that use the service.
The initial findings of the consultation will be fed into the decision making process that elected councillors will go through before setting the council’s overall budget.
We recognise that the difficult decisions being made may affect some of our users and their carers. Once these decisions have been made, reviews will be carried out to help those affected to find alternative services and support.
