Hounslow Council

Proposed closure of social care offices and administrative buildings

This consultation is now closed - thank you for your feedback.

We have to save £42m between now and 2015.  To protect essential services from being cut, councillors are considering a number of proposals to save money.  One of the proposals is reducing the number of buildings the council owns, making them available for sale or rent.  The money made will go towards the £18m savings needed for 2012/13.

Buildings proposed for closure are:

  • Feltham Social Care Office – 11-13 Hanworth Road, Feltham

  • Heston Social Care Office – 41 New Heston Road, Heston

  • Heston Mobile Office – Heston House Gardens, Heston

  • Chiswick Social Care Office – Ashburnham House, Horticultural Place, Chiswick

  • Connexions, Third Floor, Ashley House, 86 High Street, Hounslow

  • 78-80 St Johns Road, Isleworth

Relocation to the civic centre

The services currently located in the buildings listed above are in the main children and adult social care services. The proposal will be to relocate most of these services into the civic centre.

Residents who receive help and support should not experience any change in their level of service. Telephone numbers will generally remain the same and work is underway to make sure that there will be sufficient interview and meeting rooms at the civic centre.

Locating the majority of council services at the civic centre will provide opportunities to improve communication, streamline and modernise with the aim of providing a higher standard of service to residents.  Work is also underway to look at further co-location of council and other key services together – for example with the police and health services.

Alternative accommodation will be found for youth counselling, learning disability and mental health services ensuring they have the right facilities to match their specialist needs.

In September and October 2011 we asked for your views on the proposal. If you responded - thank you. For further information, email adultsocialcare@hounslow.gov.uk.
