On 13 September, we agreed to consult on a range of savings proposals including the closure of 78-80 St John’s Road and finding alternative accommodation for existing users of the building.
From now until 2015, we need to find savings of £42m including £18m to be found in 2012/13. Our priority is to protect front-line services, which means considering other options to make savings.
The proposed closure of 78-80 St John’s Road is part of a wider programme to rationalise assets we own through sale or rental and set these against the £18m savings required for 2012/13.
What will this mean for our tenants and community groups?
We anticipated the effect on tenants and offered suitable alternative accommodation will need to be identified.
It is proposed that the community groups who use 80 St John’s Road could be located at Isleworth public hall, South Street, Isleworth or some other location.
