Hounslow Council

Dukes Meadows - transport & access strategy

This consultation has been put together to respond to the concerns we have received about the transport problems in the Dukes Meadows area.

We consulted with a number of local groups and park users for their views and suggestions to help improve the area. Based on the proposals set out from the main consultation brochure, we have summarised the suggested improvements from people who responded.

The recommendations are:

  • The installation of a pedestrian bridge under Barnes Railway bridge;

  • Gating Riverside Drive to prevent through vehicular traffic to Dan Mason Drive, which will improve conditions for walkers and cyclists in this part of the park;

  • The removal of vegetation alongside some roads to improve sight lines;

  • Replacing the mini-roundabout at the Staveley Road Junction with a new ‘raised table’ to help pedestrians cross;

  • The provision of a shared use pavement along Riverside Drive for walkers and cyclists;

  • Proposals to formalise and better regulate parking (including enforcement where appropriate) to prevent anti-social parking and protect grass verges.

We want to hear your views about these proposals.
