If you are interested in policing matters in Hounslow, then the Hounslow Community & Police Consultative Group (CPCG for short) would like to hear from you.
The Hounslow CPCG has formally been in existence since 1985 and is independent of the police, council or any other government body. It is made up of representatives of voluntary organisations, business and public bodies who have an interest in policing and crime in Hounslow.
The group is the only public consultation forum where members of the public can question and challenge the Senior Police Officers responsible for the policing of the borough.
Membership of the group consists of approximately 40 local community and voluntary groups, including:
tenants and residents associations
religious groups
voluntary organisations (such as the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and Victim Support groups)
senior citizens
youth groups
local business concerns (such as the London Borough of Hounslow Chamber of Commerce)
There is also a standing membership, which includes:
senior police representatives
Borough councillors
local members of parliament and of the European parliament
Link member for the Metropolitan Police
The Hounslow CPCG aims to be a representative voice of the community on policing issues in the borough and to build confidence between the Police and the community so that crime and the fear of crime can be successfully reduced. The group also strives to challenge racial harassment in partnership with the police.
The group is there to represent you and help you, either as an individual or as a member of a community group. You can raise any policing issue at the group’s public meetings, either by informing the group secretary in advance or on the evening. Members of the group will then try to answer all questions as fully as possible.
Your organisation may also wish to support the work of the group by becoming a member and actively contributing to a safer community. You can help to influence the policing priorities in your area and increase your understanding of how the police works. Please fill in the membership application form or alternatively you can contact the group secretary who will be happy to send you a hard copy of the form by post.

Safer neighbourhoods teams
The number of safer neighbourhoods teams is growing all the time. It is hoped that by 2007 every one of the 20 wards across the borough will have its own team. To find out more information about your local team click on the following link: www.met.police.uk/hounslow/saferneighbourhoods.htm
