Hounslow Council

Anti social behaviour and nuisance

If you have witnessed or have been the target of anti-social behaviour, including intimidation, thuggery and vandalism, it is important that you report it as soon as possible. The Council respects the fact that victims of anti-social behaviour may be afraid to report such incidents for fear of reprisals. All complaints of anti-social behaviour are treated in absolute confidence and rest assured that we have experienced staff who will support you throughout the whole process.

By coming forward and reporting anti-social behaviour, you may be helping not only yourself, but also other people who are negatively affected by the disruptive actions of an unthinking minority.

What you can do to help

It is important that the times and details of anti-social behaviour are recorded accurately so that this information is available as evidence in court. You can provide invaluabl assistance if you:

  • Keep a diary of disruptive events, take photographs, video or tape recordings of any of the incidents

  • Keep a record of others who may have witnessed the incidents

  • Always report incidents to the police or the Council

While it may sometimes seem necessary to intervene yourself, be extremely cautious about doing so if there is any risk of harm to you or the people in your care. Remember that in an emergency, it is important to first call the police on 999 before taking any further action.
