All babies born within the London Borough of Hounslow, either at home or West Middlesex University Hospital must be registered with us within 42 days of the baby's birth.
All birth registrations are by appointment only.
If the parents are a married couple, only one parent has to come into the office to register the baby.
If an unmarried mother wishes to include the baby's father's details into the registration, he has to accompany her when registering.
Customers who wish to register births that have taken place outside Hounslow should attend the register office of the borough in which the birth occurred. Other register office addresses can be found on the link or the General Register Office website, together with other useful information concerning all registration services.
If English is not your first language, feel free to ask a friend or relative to help and attend the office with you, but please remember you must register the birth in person.
The first certificate is free and full birth certificates can be purchased at the time of registering. The current price is £3.50 each. We are currently unable to accept credit or debit cards; please bring the correct change or cheque to purchase any additional certificates’.

You can order a birth certificate from the General Register Office or the local register office where the birth was registered.

You can order and pay for a birth certificate online. It costs £7 for each certificate. You can have your certificate sent to an address or you can collect it in person from Hounslow register office.

The fee for a birth certificate is £7. Cheques or postal orders should be made payable to the London Borough of Hounslow.
We aim to posted certificates to you within 48 hours.
We also offer baby naming ceremonies.
