If you live or work in the vicinity of a premises licensed to sell alcohol, provide entertainment, or sell hot food and drink after 11pm you can ask us to review the licence if you are being adversely affected by the operation of the licence.
The review must be based upon a matter arising at or in the vicinity of the licensed premises, and be connected to one of the licensing objectives:
Prevention of crime and disorder
Prevention of public nuisance
Public safety
Protection of children from harm
The licensing authority cannot initiate its own review, but responsible authorities such as environmental health or the police may do so.
Anyone who believes that a review of a licensed premises may be necessary in order to promote the licensing objectives, should begin by keeping a note of their reasons for concern. Such a note may be useful in any subsequent hearing, should that be necessary.
An application for a review of a premises licence must be made in writing to us at the address below.
It is the responsibility of the applicant for a review to forward one copy of the full application to the premises licence holder and to each of the seven named responsible authorities. Details of the responsible authorities are provided in the application pack.
