Rates for Translations (as at January 2007)
Translation – (most languages) Rarer languages may be charged at a higher rate – should this be necessary, we will always inform you of the likely cost before confirming the booking.
First 150 words - £25.00
Each Additional block of 50 words - £7
Surcharge will apply for more complex documents e.g: medical and legal documents.Word processing only for given hand written translations (per 100 words) £8.00
Checking/Assessing/proof reading the translations (per 100 words) £6.00
Computerised Layout & design work. Hourly Rate £35.00
Minimum rates for translation and typesetting(under 150 English words) £25.00
Minimum rates for word processing only (up to 150 words) £16.00
Work on Floppy Disc / CD (in addition to hard copy) £5.00
Rates for Interpreting (as at Januray 2007)
Face to Face interpreting (most languages) Rarer languages may be charged at a higher rate – should this be necessary, the customer will be informed of the likely cost before confirming the booking: First hour £28.00
Each subsequent hour or part £20.00
Briefing time will be treated as part of Interpreting session
Travelling costs, such as bus or train return fare or mileage at the rate of 40p per mile
Travelling Time (per hour) £12.00
A £28.00 cancellation fee is payable if less than 24 hours notice is given
Outside normal office hours, bank holidays and weekends, surcharge will apply.
For Hounslow Language Line telephone interpreting:
First 10 Minutes (One Unit) £12.00
Subsequent 10 Minutes Units - each £6.00
Minimum charge £12.00
For Tape Recording:
We can arrange voice overs, recording etc. in any language. Please ask for a quotation.
Charges involve:
Hiring a sound-proof studio
Hiring recording equipment
Fee of a technician
Voice Over (normally £35 per hour) editing
Tape production
Translations/Typesetting/Design for Tape labels etc.
For Tape Transcription:
Transcription from a professionally recorded tape (please note that transcription involves repeated playing and rewinding of the tape and hence takes more time to transcribe than the normal listening time) £28 per hour.
Translations of the transcribed text is carried out at the translation/typesetting rates for translations.
Rates for BSL Interpreting (as at January 2007)
Sign Language Interpreting:
Booking fee per interpreter £30.00
Interpreter’s fees + travel cost
Normally, interpreters charge from £30 per hour with three hours minimum.
Total minimum cost per session in most cases is £120 + travel, but some sign language interpreters charge for a half-day as the minimum.
As there is a chronic shortage of trained signers we may resort to booking a signer through another agency who charge a booking fee as well. In such an instance, we will advise the service providers beforehand about the likely cost of the requested session.
Access to Work:
All Access to Work bookings will be accepted at a minimum 3 hour booking time plus travelling expensesat the client's individual Access to Work rate (travelling expenses usually 41 pence per mile or public transport at cost).
Cancellations:
A minimum of 14 clear working days notice is required for cancellations. Otherwise the full fee will be chargeable.
Expenses:
Expenses will be charged at cost and mileage will be charged at 41 pence per mile. An invoice will be sent shortly after the assignment, and payment must be made within 30 days of receipt to Hounslow Translation & Interpreting Unit. Civic Centre, Hounslow.
Unsociable Hours:
For assignments commencing before 8.00am or finishing after 6.00pm, or at weekends, there will be a supplementary charge of one additional hour per session. \{Session = Morning, Afternoon or Evening\}
Preparation Time and Other Expenses:
Preparation time will be charged for more complex assignments, by prior agreement. Charges for meals and accommodation may also be made as necessary and appropriate. Specialist assignments (e.g. Legal work) may incur higher charges and if we book a Freelance Interpreter for the assignment, their rates may vary. You will be advised of this at the time of booking.
